It's no secret that the demand for Product Managers has sharply increased across all sectors over the past years as businesses have adapted to the new challenges brought about by the accelerated pace of technology industry, our increasingly digital world and the digital transformation that many companies are embarking upon.

Last Friday, I participated in my first Agile Product Management virtual class, I’ve never been so excited to start something new. The class was taken by Trust Onyekwere (Founder and Product Lead at Beacamp). He explained thoroughly the concepts of product, project and product management as a whole. He described briefly how to manage products using the agile approach, the waterfall approach and its phases which includes Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Controlling ,Closing.

He also took his time to explain what Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) means and its phases that includes Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing and Integration, Maintenance. It's not surprising that both phases includes planning, we all know that planning is key.

This was an educative and fun experience for me as the class was very interactive, he also made use of good examples during his explanation on Why a lot of Projects fail, some of which may include:

  1. Lack of resource planning
  2. Lack of project visibility
  3. Unrealistic expectation
  4. Unclear Goals and objectives

After the session, we were able to ask questions, the next class is this Friday and I’m so excited. I look forward to sharing my experience on this journey with everyone.
